Spring Time Fishing on The Big Thompson River Near Estes Park

Estes Park Fishing in March

I was lucky to have a buddy of mine come into town for work and if given a chance, a little fishing. After consuming a couple of drinks a few nights before, it was set, the boys were out for a day of fishing come Saturday morning.

While most are still hitting I70 traffic to ski some weekends, we decided to stay far away from ski traffic and head north. The Big Thompson was our destination of choice and we couldn't have aksed for a better day.

Gorgeous rainbow trout were caught and few crowds were on the water which made things all the better. Love those colors!

This was the bridge trout, after countless attempts by Rob and Dave to catch her..no luck. Troutdawg stepped and and landed her on my 2nd cast. Small but a trophy for me that day!

Little spot down the road near Drake that had plenty of honey holes and pretty backdrops to keep you marveling at how pretty of a place this canyon really is. Rob and Todd picking some spots to cast to.

Dave enjoying a sweet stretch of water to finish of the morning before we ate an incredible creekside lunch provided to us by Rob. Can't remember the last time I had such a good meal with every entree, beer, appetizer and desert you could ask for. Great time out!
