Best Fly Fishing Dinners, Is It The Food or The Fishing You Remember Most?

Is It The Act of Catching Fish or Is It The Dinner Bell ?

Whether it's a Fresh Coho Salmon cooked up by a campfire hours after catching it, an incredible beef dinner in Chile, Seafood paradise in Boca Grande, Delaney Butte feast to remember, Louisiana dinner waterside after fishing, San Diego's fresh catch, or an insataible lunch in Costa Rica before a day out on the water....It's often the meal that means as much as the Fishing, -if you know what I Mean hmmmmm

Yummy
Lakeside Dinner In Chile! Should I say more...what's better than having this meal waiting for you after a long day of catching big trout in Chile's Petrohue River. Pisco Sours, Malbec's and hearty beef was heaven. Oh yeah two night's dinner for two only costs around $45 :)

damn-thatsgood
Best To Date! Boca Grande Dinner Night Oceanside With Da Playas
Where to begin, thanks to Colin, Nick, Rob, Donny B, this was one to remember and even more so due to the fact that after many whiskey drinks, red wine and panamanian cigars, I caught a Juvy Tarpon hours later in a haze of drunkeness!

delaney-delight1
Delaney Buttes feast! Huge Steak, Rainbow trout (my 1 for the year), stuffed filled chicken breast, man was that one heck of a dinner. Bourbon in hand, cigar afterwards, clear bright starry night at delaney buttes and with great friends.

Alaska's best, fresh Coho Salmon I caught just a few hours earlier on the Kenai and being cooked up to perfection thanks to Narwhal! Does it get any fresher I don't think so, fresh fish for a week and a Sushi dinner to remember before I flew out of Anchorage how you top that?

Anytime you make it to Central America, whether for the fishing, food or drinks one thing is for certain, the dinner bell and feshness of food there keeps me thirsting for more!

Trout's Fly Shop "Name That River Contest" & The Winner is...

All That Fishing is Paying Off

Every week Trout's fly shop displays a contest, name that river. Each week depicts a shot from a random river across the country. Mainly rivers around the Rockies, but often times Rivers elsewhere is shown and if you're fast enough to respond (usually 30-40 people answer within an hour) you better be ready to answer promptly. I normally -like most, never get close but today was different. I happened to glance online and noticed no one had answered correctly? Having fished in the South for most of my young angling days, it was an easy one and answered to win!

Nothing like a new Scientific Anglers WF6 Bass line to make this a good Monday! Thanks Trout's and can't wait to try again soon.

The River was none other than the Davidson River from North Carolina. One of my favorite rivers in the South, next to the Chattooga River and Nantahala Rivers as being my best!

Japan's Tsunami Troubles!

Disaster Takes No Prisoners
*Pic above, man found floating 9 miles offshore on rooftop after earthquake occurred

Most have seen and heard about the Tradegy that has struck Japan. With all the new developments happening each and every day, it's so sad to see the damage being done as well as lives being lost. Please donate to the American Red Cross or the Japan Earthquake relief fund.

Japan is experiencing its greatest hardships since World War II as it tackles the aftermath of an earthquake, tsunami and a growing nuclear crisis, Prime Minister Naoto Kan says. He said the situation at the quake-hit Fukushima nuclear plant remained grave, a day after an explosion at a reactor. Meanwhile, police have warned that the death toll in tsunami-hit Miyagi prefecture alone could exceed 10,000. Millions of survivors remain without electricity and authorities are stepping up relief efforts as the scale of the tragedy becomes clearer.

Key West Wahoo's and Hammerheads Up Close!

It's Spanish Fly Time

Whether you're a shark fan or not this one will get your attention for sure! I am a huge shark fan, whether it's a small Bonnethead, Bull shark or Hammerhead I love to catch em on a fly but not to swim with however.

One of my favorite Saltwater guys Jose Wejebe joined Rush Maltz & Steve Rodger for a wild day out on the water chasing Wahoo's with a speargun and keeping Mega Hammers at arms length. See these great photos for yourself and don't forget to checkout his show sometime!

Trying to spear a Wahoo, one of the fastest fish in the ocean is one thing but trying to spear one, retrieve and gaurd against Hammerheads is a whole nother issue.

Millions of Dead Fish Show Up at a Los Angeles Marina

Sushi Anyone?

An estimated 1 million fish turned up dead Tuesday in a Southern California marina, creating a floating feast for pelicans, gulls and other sea life and a stinky mess for harbor authorities. Thers's going to be some one heck of a buffet frenzy the next few days!

Many Biologists have tentatively concluded that the fish died from oxygen deprivation after being driven by a storm into a closed-off pier area, California Department of Fish and Game spokesman Andrew Hughan told Reuters.

Patagonia Music..Buy a Song Save The Environment!

Patagonia is Back Again To Help!

Looks like they are back again to provide a little entertainment while saving the environment. Most of my friends know that I am a huge Patagonia fan, be it the country or the company. In fact, I was just in their store yesterday returning one of my fishing waders for a new pair, that's just how they roll and how great their customer service treats it's customers. Nothing like wearing out some waders and having a new pair sent to you in a few days!

Buy a song, benefit the environment. Patagonia has teamed up with a diverse group of world-class musicians to help protect and restore our natural environment. The musicians donate an exclusive song, you buy some great music on iTunes® and non-profit environmental groups receive much-needed funds.

California Steelhead Fishing Reports for March!

Time For Some Steelhead
More on Steelhead Reports Here

The Lower Sacramento is big tailwater with big, powerful rainbows and Steelhead. The water consists of long, featureless, spring creek-like stretches that are broken up by long riffles, deep pools, gravel bars and islands, many of which are more prevalent during low water. Due to the river's size and the frequent private property along the banks. Those who prefer to wade have two options: fish from public parks and access points in the 16 miles between Redding and Anderson or, from your boat, get out at the riffles and take some casts.

Manuel Antonio-Quepos Costa Rica Vacation & Than Some

Donde Esta La Playa?

Thought you might enjoy a few more pictures from our recent trip to Costa Rica's Pacific Coast. We targeted Jaco and the Quepos-Manuel Antonio area for this week-long vacation.

What makes Costa Rica so unique you ask? In 2009, Costa Rica was named one of the happiest places on earth to live, maybe that is because of the weather, people or it's beauty. Either way there has definitely been a rush by many Americans to not only buy 2nd homes down there but to also move there.

Our daily routine included a few of the local's favorite Imperial. "Podemos tener otro cerveza?" I'm not sure what we enjoyed more the beer or the fresh seafood. Either way there was no shortage of either and with all the local Bars/Restaurants in the area, our choices were endless on where to go for fun each night.

couples shot88cruising costa rica quepos

Since Manuel Antonio and Jaco were on the water, it was hard not to take advantage any chance we got for a dip and swim. Weather wise we also lucked out, with this being there Summer the temp's rarely got to hot/humid in the Manuel Antonio area.

Sunsets don't get much better than this, sit back relax and enjoy!

Hotel Mimos catered us with 2 different swimming pools, at night this place was perfect for jumping in and enjoying more Imperial's till the wee hours of the morning.

El Avion had to be one of the craziest bars I have ever been to! Nothing jumping aboard a plane on a cliff to watch a sunset, take a tour or enjoy some great food! The owners actually own 4 various restaurants in the area so we definitely had fun going from place to place.

Plenty of Lizards running around freely, careful not to get too close. I learned the hard way at our pool one day snapping a photo when he suddenly charged me and Troutdawg almost made an impression falling down some poolside stairs...ouch!

Jaco, Costa Rica was an interesting place. Very Hot/Humid and for some strange reason empty beaches?? Must have been the hot sand, big waves and no shade. Otherwise a few decent restaurant and a few local activities, probably not returning but worth checking out.
