Billy Pate’s Fly Fishing Collection To Be Auctioned Off May 19, 2012

In April 2011, the fly fishing world lost one of its favored and legendary members, William Wilson Pate, Jr. At the time of his passing, the octogenarian was an avid angler and had innumerable fishing records to his credit. Sadly, those trophies and the rest of his fly fishing collection will be auctioned off to the public on May 19, 2012. Here are a few more details:

It is expected get underway at 1 p.m. The public will have three opportunities to preview the collection prior to the sale.

The first preview is scheduled to take place on May 17, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., as part of a Bonefish and Tarpon Trust benefit. It is only fitting, as Pate was one of the organization's founding members. Those interested in attending that preview event must remit a $25 per person fee and R.S.V.P. The remaining public previews are slated to take place on May 18 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on May 19 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Bids will be accepted in person, as well as by mail, phone and absentee methods.
