The Denver Fly Fishing Show is Back!!

DENVER --

It's back again and better than ever! The Fly Fishing 2013 season is about to begin thanks to Denver's annual Fly Fishing Show  Jan. 4-6 at the Merchandise Mart. Thankfully we do not have to compete with the ISE Sportsman Show again this year...not one single person I know enjoys having both show the same weekend each year.

The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for one day, $25 for two days and $35 for the entire event.

I was lucky enough to have a nice conversation with Chuck Furimsky, the creator and Director, weeks following last years event when he called me up. We talked about the future of fly fishing and also the future of Fly Fishing Shows. We both discussed how having multiple events going on at the same time is not only tough for particpants, but also tough for vendors deciding upon which event to attend since the ISE had once again scheduled their event the same weekend for the same weekend as the Denver Fly Fishing Show.

This years event was fortunate not to have to deal this issue and once and for all, fly fishers can now attend the true Fly Fishing event without having to deal with the ISE taking place the same weekend. FFA is not against the ISE by no means, we are simply for spreading out events so all can benefit and also so the Denver Fly Fishing Show can showcase all that they have to offer!!

Christmas Holidays..Help The Less Fortunate Homeless Pets!!

Since the holidays are a traditional time of giving, think about doing something this year to help the homeless pets in your local community. Click here to read my first article about helping homeless pets during the holidays.

Foster a lonely pet from a rescue organization over the holidays. This simple act will help free up some time for the shelter workers and make the holidays happier for that pet. Additionally, the time you spend with a shelter pet will make them more adoptable in the future. And who knows, you may find a new furry friend for your own family.

Find out if there are any thrift stores in your community that support animal rescue organizations and do some of your Holiday shopping in those stores. You will get some great bargains and support homeless animals at the same time. After the holidays, consider making donations of your unwanted gifts and excess holiday decorations (and other items) to these types of stores.
