Saltwater Travel Fly Fishing Belize - Turneffe Flats

Countdown till my Trip to Belize for fun and some Fly Fishing for Permit, Tarpon and Bonefish!

For more than three decades, Turneffe Flats has been known as one of the world's premier flats fishing destinations combining a remarkable fishery with excellent English-speaking guides, top-notch equipment, superior accommodations and service.   The ability to sight-fish for BONEFISH, PERMIT and TARPON on any given day makes Turneffe one of the few places where a Grand Slam is always a possibility.

Best Places to fish Colorado Rivers

Best Places to Fish the Colorado River

With such an expansive distance to cover, it can be somewhat intimidating to try and narrow down your options to just one or two locations along the Colorado River that yield the best fishing, but there are several places that offer the potential for trophy fishing.

First among these is near the headwaters in the Upper Colorado, and can be found between the Fraser River all the way west to Troublesome creek. This particular section of the Colorado is officially designated as Gold Medal waters where there are plenty of trophy-sized fish. The town of Kremmling is west of this stretch of water, and you can easily access the entire length of the Gold Medal section by following Highway 40.

Fly Fishing Shows 2020

One of the best ways to overcome cabin fever during the long winter months is to attend a fly-fishing consumer show . . . or perhaps several of them. This year, show season kicks off a month early, as the Great Lakes Fly Fishing Show is this weekend in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Then things really get rolling right after the new year in Denver, with The Fly Fishing Show and the International Sportsmen’s Expo on consecutive weekends. Over the next four months, there’s a wide variety of events from Washington to Massachusetts, and from Texas to St. Paul.

Every year, the list changes. Here are the shows on last year’s list about which I could find no information for 2020:

Western Michigan Fly Show

Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association Meeting & Show

The Fly Fishing & Wingshooting Expo

Cheyenne Fly Fishing Expo

Western Maine Fly Fishing Expo
