Pike Season is Here! Pike on a Fly and Fighting The Crowds

Colorado Pike Fishing, Watchout for Those Big Teeth!
Fly Fish Addiction Pike Section and Tips

Here's an idea, let's head out to fish a local favorite Lake of mine and since it's a Tuesday 6am, not a problem having the place to ourselves.....Wrong! Thanks to Charlie Myers and Bass Pro Shops for the Public Notification

Despite a favorite local waterway opening recently one weekend we thought we would beat the crowds and fish it during the week, well so did about 150 others the same day. Not quite what I had in mind, but than again what do you do, the words out, unemployment is pretty high so there's a bunch of guys out there doing their interviewing on the water.

Nick, from Reelescape Films, came along for some fun as well as my other Fishing Pal Steve. Both had a great time and Nick got into those Toothy critters right away...Can you say on the 2nd cast, nice going! Fun time had by all for despite an early fish outing before work. I could do this everyday. I think we'll wait a few weeks till the crowds drop otherwise it may be a bit too Kenai River -es for me.

Jed The River Dog Will Be Missed!

This is in Memory of a dear Fishing Pal that passed recently!

We recently had one of our Favorite Fishing Pals pass and he will be deeply missed. Jed's Favorite past times were of playing in the snow and spending as much time as possible watching his Papa Brian and Preston fishing close by. Plenty of Happiness in the 12+ years he was with us.

I also had the unfortunate time dealing with my Lab that suddenly left us also for the Rainbow Bridge last Fall and is also in my thoughts each day. I know this is never easy for anyone, our thoughts and prayers are with Brian and Preston during this tough time.

I know Jed and Zeke are Swimming in the Holy Waters looking down on us with a smile!

Location X -Where's Your Hot Spot Fishing Hole?

Top Fishing Spots Reveiled.....Okay I lied, You First!

Secret Fishing Spots are always the next best thing, the problem is where are they. Oh I have a few and I'm sure you as well. One funny thing a fellow Fly Shop owner (his name was uhhh Billy Bob let's say) he told me that when asked fisherman about trading secret spots he would always ask them 1st, get their spot than say Oh I already know about that one give me another one if you want me to tell you mine. He would never know where they were but would act as if, sly Dawg you Billy Bob!

Okay here's one for you: take highway 345 North, turn left at the 1st blinking red light, go right until you see Frank's Firearms shop, drive past it until you see the 5 th gate either on the left or right side, go to the gate, call information and get Frank Feathers (owner of the Firearm shop) his number and ask for his gate code, he's a great guy but sometimes moody. It's a great spot and you'll have it all to yourself, I fished there as a kid and Loved it!

Fly Fishing Injuries and How to Prevent Them!

Fly Fishing Recovery Period From Fishing Injuries! How To Tackle Fishing Injuries

So I'm celebrating my 6 months of Rehab from my Shoulder surgery! After a freak accident while in Patagonia at the start of 2008, I tore my Labrum AKA my shoulder's glenoid ripped but due to many fishing trips in 2008, I threw caution to the wind and waited until October before repairing it and going under the knife.

How was Rehab you ask.....Uhhhh that's all I can say! You need it, you do it, you hate it but move on. After 300 hours of rehab since I had to start after my injury, it's been a Looooooong Road and Happy to say I'm close to being back on track so Fish Beware and my Boca Grande Tarpon Trip looks perefect...well I'm bringing some Meds so I should be fine!

I've been out already 20 times so far so you knew it wouldn't take me long, injury or not, and I even made it out sight fishing for Carp 3 days after my surgery at REI, though rod not in hand since I could barely lift my arm up anyway.

Here are a few tips to look out for while fishing and for injuries that may affect your fishing. Recovery is important whether tendonitis, casters elbow or a stiff neck from casting to Bonefish all day.
